Why there is no full time professional blogger from Bhutan?

You must have read stories of some inspiring bloggers. You also must have seen their earning levels. But I am sure none of the stories you read were about bloggers from Bhutan. And also statements of incomes earned out of blogging were also that of other country bloggers.

When whatever you see about blogging is but about bloggers from other countries, have you ever wondered why there isn’t any such blogger from Bhutan? Why we have never read an inspiring story of a Bhutanese blogger and checked the statement of his blogging income?

Does this mean Bhutanese people aren’t capable of making money out of blogging? That may not be. But then, does it mean Bhutanese are so contend that they don’t want to make money? That may not be either. There are thousands of graduates hunting for jobs. They want to earn income and make living.

We know blogging is capable of income generation just like any other jobs. We have come across many proofs. If one is good at web designing works, content writings and online marketing, blogging can be as good as an executive level corporate job. Yet no Bhutanese had dared enter as full time blogger.

This means there must be something that hinders Bhutanese from entering as full time professional bloggers. Let us see them.

Population Size
In blogging people who visit it can be its customers. Bhutan doesn’t have high population to provide a good number of customers for any blog. This means only few will visit the blog bringing a low traffic. Survival in blogging is a game of traffic. We know.

Literacy Rate
Blogging is more of putting modern education into expressive platforms. Since overall literacy rate of Bhutan is just 63% (click here to view the source), one cannot expect all people to visit one’s blog. Computer literacy rate will be even lower in Bhutan.

Blogging Services
There aren’t any firms/companies in Bhutan that provide reliable blog domain names and hosting services. If any Bhutanese wants to become professional blogger, s/he will have to acquire these things from firms/companies from other countries.

Online Business
Why people become full time professional blogger? The main motive is to make money and make living. The ability of any blog to generate income depends on number of advertisements it will receive. No firm will be ready to host advertisements on blogs unless their core competencies are online sales or marketing. Bhutan doesn’t have such firms.

Internet Access
Internet is must in blogging. Readers cannot visit a blog as much as a blogger cannot update posts and attend queries of readers without internet. The recent survey shows that out of 700,000+ people in Bhutan only 33.9% (click here to view the source) of population has access to internet. This finding will suck any blog dry. Yet it is a reality in Bhutan.

Reliable Internet
Bhutan has only two ISPs i.e Tashi Infocom Ltd and Bhutan Telecom Ltd. When number of ISPs is low in the country, various activities to be carried out to improve consumer satisfaction often doesn’t receive attention. Moreover, internet connectivity doesn’t remain 24x7 in Bhutan and especially in summer due to unpredictable monsoon weather.

Geographical
Bhutan is located among rugged Himalayan Mountains making interactions among people more difficult. Bloggers cannot come together often and blog details cannot be spread well through words of mouth.

Inspirations
The upcoming generation in Bhutan lacks inspiration. Though they know blogging can be a source of income, when nobody from Bhutan has earned living out of blogging, they too think making money out of money must be impossible in Bhutan. So they don’t take up blogging as career.

Advertisements
Professional full time bloggers need various sources of income to remain in blogging. They need firms that want to advertise their products or services through blog, firms that want to online marketing and also aspiring bloggers who need blogging allied consultancy services. Bhutan doesn’t have any of these until today.

Bhutanese Attitude
Bhutan will be one of the few countries where people’s mentality to any products or services can hardly be changed by advertisements. Companies in Bhutan don’t spend much in advertisement unlike in other countries.

FINAL WORDS
This means it will take quite a while to see full time professional bloggers from Bhutan. However, we have reasons to remain hopeful. People who are blogging out of passion for writing, reading, traveling and fashion are increasing. Some of them may move ahead and become professional bloggers in their respective fields.

YOUR WORDS?

So, what do you think holds back Bhutanese from becoming full time professional bloggers? Do you think there are other factors too?

  1. You are already one of the first kind from our country though, as of now, you may not be making income out of it to call it more professional. ;)
