How is the Blogging trend in the Kingdom of Bhutan?

Blogging has never been a much talked topic in Bhutan prior to 2000. However, with the increase in access to internet and other social media, now there are as many as 300+ bloggers from Bhutan. Every day one or two Bhutanese is entering this wagon. Therefore blogging is also gaining its momentum in Bhutan.

But bloggers from Bhutan, since they entered much later (compare to bloggers from other countries) in the blogging world, there aren’t many blogs that have higher international ranks. Moreover most of the bloggers aren’t professionals. They are mostly youths who blog their feelings and memories.

However, the blogging trend is gradually picking up in Bhutan. In few years down the line, you can expect few bloggers from Bhutan competing at international levels. There are already few Facebook Groups and a community being formed to uplift this trend in Bhutan. But for today, let us try to analyze the Blogging trend of Bhutanese Bloggers.

Bloggers' Age Group
Bloggers from Bhutan, almost all are youth. Though there are few countable adults above 50 years of age, majority of Bloggers are youth whose age ranges from 15-40.

Professional Bloggers
There aren't professional bloggers from Bhutan. All bloggers have created their blogs out of passion for reading, writing and sharing their ideas. There aren't any single Bhutanese blogger who is earning his/her bread out of blogging.

Topics of Blogging
There aren't fixed topics on which Bhutanese bloggers focus on while blogging. Since almost all Bhutanese bloggers are youth, the topics on blogging ranges from love stories to some views on some government regulations. Though there are few who strictly blog on political environments of Bhutan, maximum bloggers are just random bloggers.

Author Bloggers
You can say that Bhutan doesn't have many highly read authors given its population and also low literacy rate. However, when we wrote this article it was found that only two out of seven Bhutanese writers don't maintain blogs. This means people from Bhutan who write books also maintain blogs.

Gender-wise Blogging Trend
There are as many women as there are men in blogging. However, it was found that women mainly blog in story writings, fashions, photography and foods whereas most men are found to be blogging on domestic violence issues, economic problems, politics, mega-projects and various youth problems.

Non-blogged topics
There aren't any bloggers from Bhutan who is blogging on economics, finance, travels, web designing and online money making. They might be touching them in the process of blogging in other areas. Otherwise there aren't any who strictly blog in those areas.

Politician Bloggers
The present prime minister of Bhutan, Honorable Tshering Tobgay though used to be the most avid and read blogger from Bhutan before when he was serving as a Opposition Leader, now his blog is as good as being dead. Another MP Mr. Sangay Khandro maintains a blog in which he shares his views and often seeking views from his readers on various bills before being tabled at parliament meetings. National Council Chairman Dr. Sonam Kinga though opened a blog and even wrote few articles, his blog mystically disappeared from the cyberspace.

You can say that blogging trend in Bhutan is gradually picking up. Currently though there aren't Bhutanese professional bloggers who make their livings out of it, few years done the line, you may expect at least few of such bloggers. Bhutanese bloggers are now becoming more and more organized with organizing of Bloggers' Meet and Bloggers' Conference by Community of Bhutan Bloggers (CBB as they like to be called).
