How to make Blogger Profile in Blogspot Blog?

When we read a blog-no matter whether it has good contents or excellent design, we love to know who is the person behind that blog. This means we are trying to know the legal owner of the blog.

This means providing ownership details of a blog is very important. When I mean ownership details, I mean what we usually called as 'About Me' details of a blog. The 'About Me' gadget or page can be synonymous to legal ownership notice of a blog.

This legal ownership notice and for convenience, I will call it as an 'About Me', can be added to a blog in following methods:
  1. In page/Static posts
  2. Profile Gadget (Google+)
  3. Profile Gadget (Blogger)
  4. Text Gadget
  5. HTML/JavaScript Gadget

We have added this notice as an 'About Us' page. If you add your blog's legal owner details using this method, you can provide as much more information as you want. You can also add third party links and also upload owner's/owners' profile photos.

If you add it using Profile Gadget, your blog's legal owner details will be an information given in either Google+ profile or blogger profile whichever you have activated to access your blog. In this case, you don't have to add profile photo and add text. It's pre-designed and you just have to select from a list of free Gadgets. These are the most easiest and popular methods.

If you add legal owner details using text gadget, you can add only the text information. You cannot upload image and link to third parties. This is not being recommended.

And the third one, the most sexiest methods of all. This is a highly recommended method. If we use this method, we give details in text, upload profile photo, link social networking site profiles and also add stylish marquee text below.

I can assume that almost every blogger knows how to use all methods except the last one. I will go in detail and help you add one using the last method i.e HTML/JavaScript Gadget in my coming post. Remain in the loop and check my updates if you don't want to miss that tutorial.

Blogger announced to remove other options of following a blog

Blogger has come up with another announcement to restrict following a blog via other email accounts. What is the system till now is that if we want to follow a blog of another person whether we have blogs of our own or not, we can do so via accounts of any of the following:
  • Twitter
  • Yahoo
  • AIM
  • Netlog
  • OpenID
  • Gmail
But this freedom is going to be put down by blogger with this announcement coming in effect. If you want to follow a blog, by any means you have to have a Gmail account created in your own name. None of the above options would work for blog subscription.

They have also made it very clear that this announcement will come into effect from January 11, 2016. This means if you have been following any blogs via accounts other than Gmail account, your validity of being that blog's follower will be only till that date.

Thereafter, if you don't create a Gmail account and subscribe once more, you won't be receiving updates of that blog which you have followed.

It though is a reduction in following a blog freedom, it will streamline blogging for a person who maintains a blog. It's like bringing all people who know about the blog together under same platform.

Blogger who maintains a blog can interact more with his followers. He can open profile of his followers and then if need be message or discuss issues relating to blogging.

Blogger Announced & Added New Gadget - Featured Post

Blogger have officially announced and added another the much-awaited gadget - Featured Post on its existing list of gadgets. It's a good news for people having blogs in blogspot. We don't have to add this feature manually now. We can just select it from a list of free gadgets.

Bloggers who wanted this feature in their blogs have been adding manually which often reduced loading speed of a blog. We know what are the negative impacts of adding third party gadgets.

But this problem will be solved to some extent now. Bloggers who aren't techno-savvy don't have to worry. You too can add this feature with few clicks from your blogger dashboard.

I would request you to add this feature in your blog and see how wonderful it looks.

The advantages of adding the Featured Post in your blog will be:
  • Makes readers' navigation easier
  • Helps archived posts to get clicks
  • Helps to share important posts
We don't have to remain stuck featuring only one post. You can change based on posts labels and also time they were published - if you want to re-promote past posts.

How to add the 'Featured Post' Gadget?
This is very easy. It's just like how we usually add gadgets from a list of gadgets presented to us by blogger.
  1. Login to your blog
  2. Choose the blog (if you have many)
  3. Click on Layout
  4. Click on Add Gadget
  5. In basics, click on Featured Post
  6. Select the post label
  7. The preview will be given
  8. Click Save
  9. Re-position where you want it
  10. Click on Save Arrangement
But this gadget supports only one post at a time. We want at least two-three posts to be supported with Jquery sliding feature. Yet something is better than nothing. Hope Blogger will improve it and bring it up to the level where it can support at least two-three posts at a time configured with some post sliding characters.

Therefore, until we can have such featured post gadget, let us add what blogger has released. By the way, this gadget will appear professional only if its title is hidden. Read here to hide the gadget title. I am quite optimistic that it will prove helpful for you. Happy Blogging!
