8 advantages of activating comment moderation in blogger

You must have commented in many blogs. And in all the blogs, your comment must have not become visible right after you have clicked on the publish button. Instead a statement saying ‘Your comment will be visible after approval’ will be displayed.

This means the blog in which you have commented has comment moderation enabled.

Why comment should be moderated?

Some bloggers may say comments shouldn’t be moderated. It’s like taking away the rights of people who have commented seeing their own comment.

The person who commented it cannot see the comment immediately. I think that will be the only disadvantage of comment moderation.

Whatsoever I like comments to be moderated. Let me give the reasons:

Comment Filtration
Commenting is now a means to gain more readership and exposure adapted by new bloggers. New bloggers will go on commenting in other well established blog just to advertise their blogs. All comments may not be worth of publishing. Comment moderation helps comment filtration.

Deletion of Spams
A blog having good traffic will have higher rate spams inflow as comments. Some jealous people may try to first comment and then gradually intrude the blog’s privacy. Comment moderation acts as first level of security check.

Comment Duplication
When a blog receives good number of readers and higher comments inflow, the possibility of conceptually same comment getting repeated will be higher. It is useless publishing same or similar comment. Comment moderation will take care of it.

Professional
Since comment moderation will avoid coming of spams, deletion of duplicated comments and publishing of only post-related comments, readers will consider the blog professionally managed.

Reply when free
The admin cannot reply to a comment as soon as a person has commented if the comment moderation isn’t activated. Commenters will often feel rejected when admin is replying after few days from the date of commenting when in reality admin was busily engaged.

Study Readers
It’s often through the way a person leaves comment in your blog displays behavioral characteristics of him/her. If you don’t like certain behaviors of some people, you can directly deleted it or keep its as spam for time being to study well.

Preserve Reputation
Some people have a tendency to leave unnecessary comment just to advertise their blogs with the intention to get backlinks for their blogs. Some even comment which are totally unrelated to the post and ask irrelevant helps. When such things are seen on the blog, readers may get annoyed for accepting comments like dustbin which take your reputation at brink. Comment moderation will look into this well.

Repeated Readers
This is more to do with readers’ psychology. A person who has commented in my blog and hasn’t seen his comment at that instant is more likely to visit again compare to a person who has commented and also saw it being displayed.

Final Words
Therefore, it’s always better to activate comment moderation in your blog. There are more reasons to moderate them than not.

How to Design Smart SEO responsive Post Labels in blogger

What is mean by label in Blogging?

In a school, students will be divided into different groups. Some may be in section A and some in Section B. Some may be science students whereas some may be commerce students.  Some may be in upper block and some may be in lower block.

This means students of a school are divided into different groups. First why students of a same school should be divided into different groups? Why they can’t be kept together?

Let us say one school kept all its students at one. How will be the condition of the school? There will be chaos and confusion. A mother coming to meet her daughter Marie won’t find her easily. There will hundreds and hundreds of students.

This is the case with blogging. Your published posts individually can be students of a school called Blogging. All your posts will be divided into different groups. Every group is a label. In some case, it's known as category. They are same. The process of assigning labels for your posts is called labeling.

Therefore, labeling of your posts is as important as dividing school children into different groups. Just like a mother cannot find her daughter Marie easily among undivided students, search engines cannot find a keywords-containing post among your unlabelled posts. Marie’s mother will be search engine in blogging context. Marie can be a post containing queries and keywords that your readers are searching for in your blog.

Dividing your posts into various labels may be important. But equally designing of labels for your blog is also important. Your labels should be short, simple and attractive.

What actually determines how you design your labels?
  1. Area of Blogging
  2. Popular Things
  3. Urgent Things
How you design your labels should start from the area in which you are blogging. This means your blogging niche should be kept as a root of all labels. Labels can be just like its trunk, branches and twigs.

Let us say I am exclusively blogging on Digital Cameras. This means my niche of blogging is Digital Cameras. When I write about digital cameras, I might be writing about Samsung Cameras, Nikon Cameras and Canon Cameras. So Samsung, Nikon and Canon can be my labels.

The area of blogging where I have been focusing until now is Blogging Tips & Tricks. Let us see how I have designed my labels:
  1. Blogger
  2. Web Design
  3. Instagram Gadget
  4. Blogging Tips
  5. WordPress
Therefore, we have to be smart in designing labels. It shouldn’t be at random. The randomly assigned labels will instead confuse the search engines.

How to add an image as a logo in Blogger Templates

Logo is important for your blog as much as identity cards are for us. If you are into professional blogging, it’s almost like your blog must have a logo. But for people who are into blogging out of passion, it isn’t that much important. However, if you can design one and add to your blog, it will give professional look to your blog.

It’s just like how you add an image in one of sidebar gadgets. But logo should be added in header frame. But by default, none of blogger template allows this. So it remains unfeasible. A frame to add this is nowhere near header. But we can make it so by doing some HTML editing. Follow the given steps:

Login to your blog>Click on Template>Click on Edit HTML>Find (Ctrl+F) the given code embedded inside the template HTML:
<b:section class='header' id='header' maxwidgets='1' showaddelement='no'>
In above change maxiwidgets into 3 from 1 and then showaddelement into yes from no. Once you’re done, click on Save Template. This should add an image addable frame near your blog header frame. To see whether it’s being added, click on Layout and see.

You can see that Add a Gadget has appeared. Now proceed with adding of image, your logo image into it. Click on Add a Gadget>Scroll down>Choose Image>Give appropriate title (often blog title is used)>Upload image from your computer>Or link from other website if you have used that image there>Click on Shrink to fit in well>Click on Save.

This should successfully add an image in your blog header as your logo. Now click on View Blog and see if that image has appeared near your header. If it appears you must have got it right. It's wonderful, right? Keep Blogging. Cheers!

        cursor:pointer;
    }
    </style><br />
    <img class="ks-back-to-top" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV5BD86yaSoXpEUThfyswgYK5JviFX_nOv02U7R8CHQi2I5PBwE-O41Ko49XHEZksnkW0evs0LQsOfE5K0cFMNGxnVP5WKRYcb8J27kld3uWMuMoj3hDg4AxZ5VrHksH8E6vBaujituNc/s1600/6.png" /><br />
    <script type="text/javascript">
    /*****www.sherutenzin.com***/
    jQuery(document).ready(function() {
        var offset = 220;
        var duration = 500;
        jQuery(window).scroll(function() {
            if (jQuery(this).scrollTop() > offset) {
                jQuery('.ks-back-to-top').fadeIn(duration);
            } else { //www.sherutenzin.com
                jQuery('.ks-back-to-top').fadeOut(duration);
            }
        });
        jQuery('.ks-back-to-top').click(function(event) {
            event.preventDefault();
            jQuery('html, body').animate({scrollTop: 0}, duration);
            return false;
        })
    });
    </script>

Click Save. It's being added in your blog. You can re-position it by means of drag-and-drop. Usually it's advised to keep at the footer or just below post body space. Hope you got your button. Cheers!

To disable Magazine Style from Blogger Templates

If you have installed third party templates in your blog, you must have realized that many of them come with an automatic post summary snippets and read more links.

This is good provided your posts contain combination of both images and words. Otherwise things appear little unprofessional. Let us say many of your posts don't contain thumbnails, then it would be much better if we remove automatic post summaries and read more/continue reading links from your current template.

So let us remove them and give your blog a professional touch. Follow the given steps:

Login to your blog>Click on Template>Click on Edit HTML>Find the following HTML codes embedded:

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType != &quot;static_page&quot;'>
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType != &quot;item&quot;'>
<div expr:id='&quot;summary&quot; + data:post.id'><data:post.body/></div>
<script type='text/javascript'>createSummaryAndThumb(&quot;summary<data:post.id/>&quot;);</script>
</b:if>
</b:if>
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;item&quot;'><data:post.body/></b:if>
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;static_page&quot;'><data:post.body/></b:if>

To trace above code easily, it will be better you find 'createSummaryAndThumb' first and then only find the codes related to it.

Once you have found it, replace above (whole) code with : <data:post.body/> and click Save Template.

You can view the blog. The post summary must have been removed. But links like Read More or in some cases Continue Reading will appear still. To remove this too, you have to remove the given code from your template:

<a class='readmorepbt' expr:href='data:post.url'>Read More</a>

But again Read More link may vary from templates to template. Remove that is appearing in your current template. Once you have completed all, Save Template and view your blog. Hope it's being removed. Now your blog may appear beautifully professional. Cheers!

How to remove Navbar from your blog in blogger?

If you have created a blog in blogspot and also has used one of their free templates, when you open your blog, you must have seen different links of your email, new post, design and sign out etc on the top right-hand side. They are but the elements of Navbar.

What is a Navbar. It is a Navigation Bar in short form. If we keep those links, they provide us link to open mails, design, post new article and also sign out from our gmail account. But they give unprofessional looks to our blogs - because all the links this Navbar provides are also inside our blogger dashboard.

Therefore, let us learn how to hide this from our blog. To get it done in your blog, please follow the given steps and incorporate them:

Login to your blog>Click on Layout>Locate Navbar inside it>Click on Edit>In Navbar Configuration box, scroll down and click on OFF>Click on SAVE.

Once above steps are completed, take your cursor to the top left-hand side of layout box and click on view blog. If all those links displayed on the top right-hand side of your blog are gone, then you must have got it right. Cheers!

How to reduce space between Blog title & description?

The moment you create a blog in blogger/blogspot.com and then open it for the first time, you will be surprised to see presence of unwanted space between your blog title and blog description statement. This is indeed not wanted. But the good thing is we can either remove it permanently or hide temporarily.

To remove it permanently
If you want to remove this unwanted space permanently and maintain only a required space between your blog title and blog description, incorporate following steps and edit your blog

Login to your blog>Click on Template>Click on Edit HTML>Search (Ctrl+F): .Header h1 { and below it find the codes that resemble the given code:
.header-inner .Header .titlewrapper {
  padding: 22px $(header.padding);
}

To reduce the space between the blog title and blog description or tagline whatever you wants to call it, reduce padding px in above code. You are advised to start from -1. In my case, I will reduce from 22px to -22px. This gave only desired space between my blog title and blog description statement. Hope you got it right.

To hide it temporarily
We can also hide it temporarily by adding custom CSS to our template. But this doesn't guarantee that this awkward space won't appear when you change your blog template. If you will use the current template for quite sometime, hiding it is a good option. To get it done in your blog, follow the given steps and incorporate in your blog:

Login to your blog>Click on Template>Click on Customize>Click on Advanced>Scroll down and click Add CSS>In Add Custom CSS area, copy and paste the given CSS:

.Header h1 {margin-bottom:0}
.Header .description {margin-top: 0;}
.header-inner .Header .titlewrapper {padding-bottom:0;}

Once it's being pasted, see whether space between your blog title and blog description gets reduced or not. If gets reduced, you must have got it right. Click on Apply to blog and you're done. It's easy. Cheers!

How to center align page list/tabs in Blogger?

When we place page tabs above the post body and below the blog description statement, by default they will appear on left-hand side corner. If you like them there, it's no problem. But if you wants to take them to center, incorporate following steps in your blog:

Login to your blog>Click on Template>Click on Customize>Click on Advanced>Scroll down and click on Add CSS>Copy the given CSS and paste in Add Custom CSS blank white area:
.PageList li {display:inline !important; float:none !important;}
.PageList {text-align:center !important;}

Once it's being added, see whether your pagelist gets center-aligned or not. If it does then you have got it right. Click on Apply to Blog. You're done. You can also do customization there. If you want them displayed at right-hand side, change center into right.

But all above steps assume you have page list being added unto your blog and being placed above post body and below blog description statement. Make sure they are there in your blog these customization steps are incorporated. Cheers!
