We have introduced this blogging platform - medium.com in our earlier article. It's one of the 63 blogging platforms. We have shared how to get registered with it and start blogging right away. Hope you found that article simple and helpful. But today let us see the advantages of blogging in it.

Blog Creation Easy

Easy to Post
You don’t have to worry anything about blog posting know-how. Writing an article and sharing with others is as easy as sharing a status on your Facebook Wall.

It’s just a matter of click to share your authored articles from other blogs or websites hosted in other platforms. You just have to copy-paste their URL addresses and the click on Import. Also contents will be just like how you have written in original platform.

Editor’s Pick
A list of inspiring or influential posts will be picked by editors and shown under Top Stories on Medium. This will not only help others to learn how to write well but will also provide encouragement for beginners.

To change blogger post publish date to time & Vice-versa

In a blogger post, author of the post will be given along with either date on or time at which the post was published. This information will be shown on the top left-hand side corner of a post just below the post title. In some templates, it will be shown at the bottom left-hand side corner.

The manner in which it starts also varies. In some, it will be like Posted by: Author name at Time or on Date. In some templates, it will be like By Author name | Date or Time. Free blogger templates usually have former whereas in third party templates it will be latter.

But you can change them into a format which you want. Let us consider the following HTML before proceeding any farther:
<meta expr:content='data:post.canonicalUrl' itemprop='url'/>
            <a class='timestamp-link' expr:href='data:post.url' rel='bookmark' title='permanent link'><abbr class='published' expr:title='data:post.timestampISO8601' itemprop='datePublished'><data:post.timestamp/></abbr></a>
In above HTML, you must have seen 'timestamp' being mentioned thrice. This represents that additional information of a post will be like Posted by: Author Name at Time. Now let us say you want to change into date instead of time, just replace timestamp in above code with date. Once you have changed it, your post details will be like: Posted by Tom at Friday, August 21, 2015. Otherwise it will show time at which post was published. This trick will work well in free blogger templates.

If you are using third party blogger templates, format may be little different. Our template is also such template. Ours is something as shown below:
By <a><data:post.author/></a> &amp;nbsp;|&amp;nbsp <data:post.timestamp/>
This means the additional information of our post will be like By Tom | Time. If we want to change it into something like By Tom | Tuesday, September 8, 2015; we have to replace timestamp in above code with date

We hope you got this trick well. You can try the appropriate one in your blog once. It's really fun. If it didn't work well, let us know by dropping your problem in the comment. Enjoy Blogging. Cheers!

Simple Blogging Trick to Hide a Gadget Title in Blogger

It’s not necessary that all the sidebar widgets on your blog should have names/titles. Some widgets/Gadgets appear professionally better when they are left unnamed or say without titles. But blogger demands widget titles for all except third party HTML/JavaScript widget. Here it’s optional.

Let us say that you have added Popular Posts widget. When it’s being processed to be added, you cannot SAVE unless you give appropriate details in its title space. Blogger doesn’t accept blank title space in such widget. This means you have only two choices – either to add the widget by giving its title or by not adding the widget. An option where you can add even without making its title visible for readers isn’t there.

But don’t worry. We have got the trick that will give you a third option. You can have any widget in your sidebar or footer without having titles. This trick also can be used to fool your readers by adding same widget say Popular Posts more than once but with different parameters. Reader will be lured to read your popular posts twice.

So how you can use this trick in your blog?

Login to your blog>Click on Layout>Click on Add a Gadget>Choose a Gadget which you wants to add, for illustration let us keep Profile>Add it by clicking on a Plus sign below it. Now you can see blogger intelligently giving us a default title of this widget as About Me. Do you like it? If not you can change it to something like This is Me. And Click on SAVE. Click on View Blog to see how your blog appears with the addition of it.

But your blog appears little disoriented when your Profile Gadget has name/title. Seems it would appear better if you leave it without title. If that is the case with yours too, instead of About Me or This is Me, give <html/> as its title. This will lock the HTML. Click SAVE. And then you can click View Blog to see the changes.

If you love this trick and also want to hide the titles of other gadgets, you can easily have it by replacing the titles of any widget you have given with <html/> and then clicking SAVE. What can simpler than this?

If you have successfully used this trick, please leave your blog URL as a comment below. We also want to have a look. Thank you. Enjoy Blogging!

How is the Blogging trend in the Kingdom of Bhutan?

Blogging has never been a much talked topic in Bhutan prior to 2000. However, with the increase in access to internet and other social media, now there are as many as 300+ bloggers from Bhutan. Every day one or two Bhutanese is entering this wagon. Therefore blogging is also gaining its momentum in Bhutan.

But bloggers from Bhutan, since they entered much later (compare to bloggers from other countries) in the blogging world, there aren’t many blogs that have higher international ranks. Moreover most of the bloggers aren’t professionals. They are mostly youths who blog their feelings and memories.

However, the blogging trend is gradually picking up in Bhutan. In few years down the line, you can expect few bloggers from Bhutan competing at international levels. There are already few Facebook Groups and a community being formed to uplift this trend in Bhutan. But for today, let us try to analyze the Blogging trend of Bhutanese Bloggers.

Bloggers' Age Group
Bloggers from Bhutan, almost all are youth. Though there are few countable adults above 50 years of age, majority of Bloggers are youth whose age ranges from 15-40.

Professional Bloggers
There aren't professional bloggers from Bhutan. All bloggers have created their blogs out of passion for reading, writing and sharing their ideas. There aren't any single Bhutanese blogger who is earning his/her bread out of blogging.

Topics of Blogging
There aren't fixed topics on which Bhutanese bloggers focus on while blogging. Since almost all Bhutanese bloggers are youth, the topics on blogging ranges from love stories to some views on some government regulations. Though there are few who strictly blog on political environments of Bhutan, maximum bloggers are just random bloggers.

Author Bloggers
You can say that Bhutan doesn't have many highly read authors given its population and also low literacy rate. However, when we wrote this article it was found that only two out of seven Bhutanese writers don't maintain blogs. This means people from Bhutan who write books also maintain blogs.

Gender-wise Blogging Trend
There are as many women as there are men in blogging. However, it was found that women mainly blog in story writings, fashions, photography and foods whereas most men are found to be blogging on domestic violence issues, economic problems, politics, mega-projects and various youth problems.

Non-blogged topics
There aren't any bloggers from Bhutan who is blogging on economics, finance, travels, web designing and online money making. They might be touching them in the process of blogging in other areas. Otherwise there aren't any who strictly blog in those areas.

Politician Bloggers
The present prime minister of Bhutan, Honorable Tshering Tobgay though used to be the most avid and read blogger from Bhutan before when he was serving as a Opposition Leader, now his blog is as good as being dead. Another MP Mr. Sangay Khandro maintains a blog in which he shares his views and often seeking views from his readers on various bills before being tabled at parliament meetings. National Council Chairman Dr. Sonam Kinga though opened a blog and even wrote few articles, his blog mystically disappeared from the cyberspace.

You can say that blogging trend in Bhutan is gradually picking up. Currently though there aren't Bhutanese professional bloggers who make their livings out of it, few years done the line, you may expect at least few of such bloggers. Bhutanese bloggers are now becoming more and more organized with organizing of Bloggers' Meet and Bloggers' Conference by Community of Bhutan Bloggers (CBB as they like to be called).

How to disable an uppercase font style in blog header

If you're currently using other templates i.e templates other than those provided free of cost by blogger, blog title/header will be in uppercase font just like in our case. Some templates though appear better in such style but many don't suit well. Moreover, there will be as many people who like lowercase style as who like uppercase style. There should be choices.

Our blog title in Uppercase Text-Transformation

If your current third party template also has this style i.e uppercase font style activated in blog title/header font and also in page-tab fonts, let us try to make them into normal/lowercase.

To convert uppercase font style in blog title to lowercase font style:

  font-size: 3.3em;
  font-weight: bold;
  text-transform: uppercase;
  letter-spacing: 0em;
  word-spacing: .1em;

In above CSS, you can replace blue font i.e uppercase into normal/lowercase. Once it's being replaced, you can click on Save Template and then on View Blog to see the changes. If it's as you wanted, you must have got it right. And if you want to convert lowercase (if your template has that) to uppercase, you can repeat entire steps and just replace lowercase/normal to uppercase.

To convert uppercase font style page-tabs to lowercase font style:

We have converted uppercase text-transformation in blog header to lowercase transformation. Now let us customize this font style in pagelist/page-tabs of a blog.

Our blog title in lowercase text-transformation

In above CSS, you can replace red font i.e uppercase into normal/lowercase. Once it's being replaced, you can click on Save Template and then on View Blog to see the changes. Don't you want to see from which countries or states people are reading your blog just now as you're going through it? Yes indeed. This not only help us to know the nationalities of our visitors but also in writing posts related to countries from where you get maximum visitors. We don't want to write posts meant for people who don't read the contents. This helps in planning our blog post writings and in listing areas in which our posts should be focused on.

How to add cool paragraph divider in Blogger Post

The paragraph divider may sound unnecessary for an average blogger. But for those who are little ahead in blogging and are in love with more and more customization, this will prove pretty helpful. I am sure. It is really good to add if each paragraph in your blog post contains separate message than other paragraphs. It's always better to make distinctive.
Isn't it cool? If you too want to add this coolness being added unto your blog post, please follow the given steps:

To add in Previous Posts
  1. Login to your Blog
  2. Click on Posts
  3. Click Edit in which you want paragraph divider
  4. Locate paragraphs for which you want to add it
  5. Put your paragraph within this HTML code: <hr>Your Paragraph<hr>
  6. Click Update. Paragragh divider is added into your post.
To add in new posts

  1. Login to your blog
  2. Click on Create New Post
  3. Write your complete post
  4. Click on HTML on top left-hand side
  5. Locate paragraphs for which you want to add it
  6. Put your paragraph within this HTML code: <hr>Your Paragraph<hr>
  7. Click on Publish. Paragraph divider is added into your new post.
Hope you got them correctly. Open a new tab, type your blog's URL and then see those cool horizontal paragraph dividers have been added or not. If they are there, you must have got it. Beautiful. Cheers!

3 simple reasons why comments won't show in blogger

Sometimes readers' comments don't appear in our blog post articles. My friend had this problem. There are more than 100 comments in her blog, but none gets displayed in any post. So what must be the problem:

Profiles & comments
If you're currently using your blog from Google Plus profile, you shouldn't activate . This will not only hide all your comments from your blog posts but also removes comments link from drop-down menu.

Readers comments setting
When you write a post, on the right side of post article body space, there is one button named Options. Click on it and on Readers Comments, you should choose Allow

Compatibility problem
If you have been using third party templates earlier and now have shifted to free blogger template, comment codes used in former may not be compatible. Or you have done some changes in HTML which aren't compatible. Therefore, you have to revert all the changes and also revert widget templates to default.

Login to your blog>Click on Template>Click on Edit HTML>Click on Revert Changes>Click on Revert widget templates to Default>Click on Save Template.

Once all above steps are incorporated, check your blog once more. If those comments, which didn't appear visible earlier are now visible, you must have got it right. Cheers!
