Blogger announced to remove other options of following a blog

Blogger has come up with another announcement to restrict following a blog via other email accounts. What is the system till now is that if we want to follow a blog of another person whether we have blogs of our own or not, we can do so via accounts of any of the following:
  • Twitter
  • Yahoo
  • AIM
  • Netlog
  • OpenID
  • Gmail
But this freedom is going to be put down by blogger with this announcement coming in effect. If you want to follow a blog, by any means you have to have a Gmail account created in your own name. None of the above options would work for blog subscription.

They have also made it very clear that this announcement will come into effect from January 11, 2016. This means if you have been following any blogs via accounts other than Gmail account, your validity of being that blog's follower will be only till that date.

Thereafter, if you don't create a Gmail account and subscribe once more, you won't be receiving updates of that blog which you have followed.

It though is a reduction in following a blog freedom, it will streamline blogging for a person who maintains a blog. It's like bringing all people who know about the blog together under same platform.

Blogger who maintains a blog can interact more with his followers. He can open profile of his followers and then if need be message or discuss issues relating to blogging.
